BE A MAKER
People take bladesmithing courses for many reasons. Some aspire to be bladesmiths or want to level up their skills. Others attend simply for the experience of hammering on steel and making a knife.
On a master level, Jason teaches beginner and experienced makers his approach to bladesmithing from concept to completion. Makers will learn knife design: blade and handle shape, edge geometry, and functionality. The session will begin with forging with a power hammer, press, and hand tools.
Makers will also learn heat-treating techniques to include thermal cycling, normalizing, hardening, and tempering. Jason will demonstrate grinding techniques working with each maker’s skill level.
By the end of the session, makers will have a complete and fully functional knife or tomahawk.
